Either the adds are bogus or of my 20 perfect matches or the other 20 I responded NOT one wrote me back except a lady who said she cancelled her add months ago. These people seem to be stalking women but dont want to put that in their add or as 1 person just wanted my google voice code (never give that away) to spoof my phone number from overseas. I was just looking for a room to rent while I look to buy a Condo or house. I decided to buy a Mobile home so I am not mad, it was a good investment at this time. But this site Craiglist (which is even worse, never use that you will only get sickos on there now) or senior home shares or any site. Its all a scam by the owners of the site or the people offering these great rooms for cheap (especially if you are a woman) and then when you check the adds they dont own the house. I have seen the same pictures of beautiful balconies that can exist in Las Vegas cause those trees dont grow here. But... (Read the full review)

I have been a member for a month tried to contact only perfect matches, never received one message back. You match perfectly and never hear back from them, tried almost perfect, sent out 12 messages, not one message back.. Whats the point, dont waste your money. Looking for a real site. Craigslist is even worst so dont try that.

In summary, I would not recommend Roommates.com to a friend.

There are no good points. It is a fraud from the very onset. It is, to begin with, not FREE. And, even when you pay $20 for the upgraded "Choice Membership", you get nowhere at all because, although you are now able to view other's profiles, and answer messages, they are not. You see, most people do not pay; they are too cheap I suppose. In 3 months I received only one message. And, I must say, without any modesty, that I had the most gorgeous condo, on the lakefront, than anything I saw as my competition. I thought I would be bombarded with offers. But, no one can reach you, or even see the pics of your place without the upgrade, which I paid for 3 months until I told them that I would perhaps sue them for causing me to lose thousands, yes thousands of dollars on rent. They quickly returned my membership money; but I wasted all those months. I would say that returning my membership money is quite an admission of guilt, wouldn't you agree? They are, for lack of a better term, a real scam.

In summary, I would not recommend Roommates.com to a friend.

I was misled by their Free Sign Up. I canceled my account once I realized what they were doing. Here is my response as to why I did:

There is no functionality except to see a match or listing but only basic information without upgrading. There is no way to communicate with prospects without upgrading. In fact there is really nothing useful that can be done without upgrading. Why do you allow people to even post for free. I was VERY dissatisfied and your service is useless to me and I found it underhanded and misleading. If you had just said that this is NOT a free service up front, it would have at least been honest. I will be using another service and posting my experience regarding Roommates.com.

In summary, I would not recommend Roommates.com to a friend.
